lord loss is a very wierd but good book. it involves demons, chess, and werewolves. once you hit puberty you are hit the grady curse were you become a werewolve, you can get rid of it by playing chess with lord loss. if you lose your family gets killed, but if you win you can go home but someone else has to take your place in the demonata and fight hand on hand with lord loss.

I liked this book a lot because it kept you guessing and made the hero of the book seem very unlike a hero. o______O I also like how Darren Shan writes. It makes everything seem sudden. His sentences are really short though so it gets on my nerves a little. But where he could have wrote, He was sitting, in the book he wrote "He sits...,". I can't remember the exact page or chapter but I know it's when Grubbs and his uncle(can't remember the name right now sorry) are in the study for the first time. It's just a very strange writing style. It was one of the reasons that I kept reading.
There wasn't much horror in the book as I thought there was going to be but the way that Shan would portray Lord Loss was comical and scary all at the same time. I wish I could write more on the concept of the book but Shan's writing style is so unique that I guess I paid a bit too much attention to it.... ^_^
(heh heh! I sent the blogg early!!!>=D)

Maybe some of the plotlines are predictable- but I really like the way the author brought the mythology of the Titans and Greek gods to current day America and made them interact with regular kids. Interesting idea, and I have read the next two in the series and enjoyed them. I am about to read the fourth book- and probably am going to stay up late until I finish it…but I have two others that I am halfway thru at the same time! One is about the Loch Ness Monster and the other is about a fantasy world tied to ours called Foo. It is extremely weird but I like it. Here is the author site- http://www.leventhumps.com/
Check it out if you are a fantasy freak like me!

I like trying to figure out how Percy is going to find the lighting bolt and who took it. Also if he is ever going to make it back to camp alive.

The characters were underdeveloped in my opinion. There weren't enough twists in the storyline. 0 0 I like Pie! xD

i thought that lightning thief was a little to predictable. yeah it was good but as soon as he meets the first villian you know exactly whats going to happen. if you are in to mythical stuff like gods and other things it should be a good book to read.

I have just begun The Lightning Thief which I am really enjoyiing. I do have one question, don't you see the similarities to the Harry Potter series? I hope we can talk about this at our meeting on the 20th.

I just love these books and hope you do too. Percy is a pretty frustrated kid- and things never seem to go his way. So- if you found out that you were the child of some Greek god, which powers would you want to have? You can't have too many if you're half human, but if you could have some special talent what would it be? I like animals so much that I would probably want to be able to communicate with them.
